Model Request Submission Terms
Last updated: August 2, 2026 · Version 2026-08-02
In short: tell us what you want, and if we build it, the model goes into our public catalog for anyone to download. You give us the rights we need to do that. If you are not a paying subscriber, we send you the files for free and tweak them for you up to ten times. We are not obliged to build anything, and we will tell you why if we decide not to.
1. Scope
These Model Request Submission Terms (“Submission Terms”) apply when you submit a request for a new model through our request page (a “Submission”). They supplement our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which continue to apply. If these Submission Terms conflict with the Terms of Service in respect of a Submission, these Submission Terms control. You accept them by ticking the acceptance box when you submit.
A Submission includes everything you send us as part of the request: the description, any image you upload, and any follow-up material or correspondence about it.
2. Rights you grant us
You grant TF Prints a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence — freely sublicensable and transferable — to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, publish, distribute, publicly display and commercially exploit your Submission and to create derivative works from it, including designing, manufacturing, marketing and selling 3D models based on it, in any medium now known or later developed.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you also assign to us any rights you may hold in the underlying idea or concept described in your Submission. Where such rights cannot be assigned, the licence above applies instead.
Some jurisdictions grant authors moral rights (including rights of attribution and integrity) that cannot be assigned or waived. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you waive such rights in relation to your Submission and agree not to assert them against us or anyone acting under our licence. Where a waiver is not permitted, you consent to the uses described in these Submission Terms.
You are not required to submit anything. If you would rather keep control of an idea, do not submit it.
3. Models we create are ours
Any model, design, file or other material we create in response to a Submission is our own original work and our exclusive property. We may publish it in the TF Prints catalog for anyone to download under our standard licence tiers, modify or withdraw it at any time, and use it commercially.
You receive no ownership interest, royalty, revenue share, attribution or other compensation in respect of any such model, beyond the free-files offer described in section 7 where it applies.
4. Submissions are not confidential
Your Submission is not confidential and creates no confidential, fiduciary or agency relationship between us. Do not send us anything you consider secret, proprietary or subject to a confidentiality obligation owed to someone else.
We receive many requests and develop designs independently. We may already be working on, may later receive from others, or may independently develop something similar or identical to your Submission. We owe you nothing on account of any such similarity, and nothing in these Submission Terms limits our freedom to work on any design.
5. What you promise us
By submitting, you represent and warrant that:
- you own or otherwise control all rights in your Submission and are able to grant the rights in section 2;
- your Submission does not infringe or violate anyone else’s intellectual property, trade mark, trade secret, privacy, publicity or other rights;
- any image you upload is yours to share, and does not depict an identifiable person without their consent or contain sensitive personal data;
- your Submission is lawful, and is not defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or intended for a weapon or other unlawful purpose; and
- you are at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian who accepts these Submission Terms on your behalf.
We may remove or refuse any Submission at our discretion, including one we believe breaches this section.
6. We are not obliged to build anything
We decide entirely at our own discretion whether to act on a Submission. We may implement it, implement part of it, change it, combine it with other requests, or discard it. We give no deadline, make no commitment to respond, and are not obliged to keep you updated.
The status shown in your account, and any note or reason we provide with it, are courtesies to keep you informed. They do not create any obligation on our part, any right of review, or any appeal process.
7. Free files for non-subscribers
If we implement your Submission and you do not have an active paid subscription at the time we fulfil it, we will email you the resulting STL/3MF files free of charge, and will produce up to ten further customized versions of that model for you, free of charge, on request by email.
Files provided under this offer are licensed for personal, non-commercial use on the same terms as our free tier — see the licence section of our Terms of Service. Commercial use requires a paid subscription.
This offer is made per implemented Submission, at our discretion, and is personal to you — it is not transferable and may not be aggregated, resold or claimed on behalf of others. We give no delivery timeline. We may change or withdraw the offer at any time, on a forward-looking basis; a change does not affect a Submission we have already agreed to fulfil under it.
8. Your responsibility
You are responsible for the content of your Submission and for the accuracy of the promises you make in section 5. If a third party brings a claim against us because your Submission was not yours to give, you are responsible for the consequences of that breach to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in this section limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law.
9. Data, retention and account deletion
We keep your Submission — including any uploaded image — as a record of the rights you granted us and of what we built. The licence in section 2 and the provisions of sections 3, 4 and 8 survive termination of your account and any end of your relationship with us.
If you delete your account, we remove the link between you and your Submissions, so they are no longer associated with your identity, but we retain the Submission content itself. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and the rights you have over it.
10. Changes, governing law and contact
We may update these Submission Terms. The version in force when you submit is the version that governs that Submission, and it is recorded with it. Changes take effect for later Submissions when published on this page.
These Submission Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which TF Prints is domiciled, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, save that you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
