A pedestal cake stand: a round serving platform on a flared, patterned foot. Pick the pedestal pattern — smooth, fluted, spiral, ribbed, faceted or waves — and the dimensions: platform size and thickness, overall height, and the foot and stem widths. Prints as one piece in a single colour.
Pattern carved into the pedestal: smooth=plain; fluted=vertical grooves; spiral=fluted grooves that twist up the pedestal; ribbed=horizontal rings; faceted=flat polygonal panels; waves=soft sinusoidal undulation. The serving platform stays smooth.
Diameter of the round serving platform on top, where the cake sits. Must be wider than the pedestal stem. Diameters over ~256 mm may not fit a 256 mm printer bed.
Overall height, from the foot on the table to the top of the platform.
Thickness of the serving platform disc.
Shape of the platform rim: sharp=a plain square-cornered disc with crisp edges; round=rounded over (bullnose) top and bottom for a softer look.
Diameter of the flared foot at the very bottom (the widest part of the pedestal). A wider foot makes the stand more stable.
Diameter of the pedestal where it meets the platform (its narrowest point). The pedestal flares from this up top out to the foot below.
How many times the pattern repeats: grooves/waves/facets around the pedestal, or rings up its height. Ignored for smooth.
How deep the grooves/ribs/waves cut into the pedestal. Must leave at least 3 mm of stem at the narrowest point. Ignored for smooth and faceted.
For the spiral style: total rotation of the grooves from the foot to the platform (360 = one full turn). Ignored by other styles.
