Give your treats a sculpted pedestal. Choose serpentine ribbons, spiral ribs or diamond lattice, then customize the serving plate and column. Two printed pieces fit together without glue and separate for compact storage. For food use, food-safe PLA is advised, plus a food-safe liner; filament alone does not make prints food-safe.
Pedestal design: stacked serpentine ribbons of fat rounded tube, restrained spiral ribs, or a woven diamond lattice.
Two-part prints the plate and pedestal separately on their own plates; they slot together with a snug drop-on fit and need no glue. One-piece prints the whole stand fused as a single object (plate face down on the bed), so there is nothing to assemble at all — it takes one longer print and a single colour.
Diameter of the flat serving plate. 240 mm holds about a dozen cupcakes; the plate must stay at least 30 mm wider than the pedestal so it reads as a stand.
Height of the pedestal from the table to the top of its collar. The plate adds another 6.5 mm.
Outside diameter of the patterned pedestal cage. The collar under the plate adds 1.2 mm around it.
Gauge of the rounded pattern tube; thicker values make a bolder, chunkier pedestal. Around a ninth of the pedestal diameter keeps the pattern in proportion.
