Vertical desk stand for a closed laptop, with a slot sized to the laptop's thickness.
Closed thickness of the laptop. The slot width is this plus clearance_mm. MacBook Air ~11mm, MacBook Pro 16" ~17mm, gaming laptops up to ~30mm.
Extra width added to the slot beyond laptop_thickness_mm. Accounts for FDM print tolerance and gives the laptop a non-binding fit.
How tall the walls rise above the base — i.e. how deep the laptop sinks into the slot.
Total footprint width across the slot (X axis). Must be at least laptop_thickness_mm + clearance_mm + 2*wall_thickness_mm; extra width creates a stability overhang on each side.
Footprint length along the laptop spine (Y axis). Walls span this full length.
Vertical thickness of the base plate.
Thickness of each upright wall. Drives stiffness; thinner walls flex under heavier laptops.
Fillet radius on the top edges of the walls — produces the rounded-rectangle silhouette in the front view. Auto-capped to half the wall thickness.
Concave fillet on the OUTSIDE of each wall where it meets the base — the smooth flare visible from the front. The slot interior stays sharp so it doesn't squeeze the laptop spine. Auto-capped to half the outside overhang and the wall height.
Rounded corners on the base footprint (top-down view).
